Role Summary
We’re hiring a hands-on Head of Engineering (India) who will code daily
while leading and scaling an India-based engineering team. This is a
“player/coach” role: you will set architecture, ship core platform
capabilities, build team execution muscle, and own delivery quality for an
enterprise-grade product.
You’ll report to the CEO/Co-founder and partner closely with Product,
Design, and Customer teams in the US.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Hands-On Engineering (Core Expectation)
-
Write production code daily across backend services, APIs, data pipelines,
and workflow orchestration
-
Own key technical components end-to-end (design → build → test → deploy →
operate)
-
Lead by example on code quality, performance, reliability, and security
Platform Architecture & Delivery
-
Build and evolve platform foundations: multi-tenant, secure, stateless
services; scalable ingestion and workflow pipelines
-
Design a reusable integration framework (API/webhooks/SFTP/email
ingestion/connectors) to connect to custodians, admins, CRMs,
IBOR/reporting systems, and data warehouses
-
Establish engineering cadence: sprint planning, release management,
incident response, on-call, retros
AI Workflow Engine (“Control Plane”)
-
Ship the AI workflow layer: ingest → extract → validate → exceptions →
approvals → publish
-
Implement human-in-the-loop review, confidence scoring, source linking,
and full audit trails
-
Operationalize AI safely: evaluation, monitoring, rollback, and controlled
access patterns
Security & Enterprise Readiness
-
Own RBAC/permissions, audit logs, encryption, data lineage, retention
policies
-
Drive enterprise requirements and security reviews; contribute to SOC2/ISO
readiness (as applicable)
-
Build secure SDLC practices: CI/CD, automated testing, dependency
scanning, code review rigor
Team Leadership (Build & Scale India Engineering)
-
Hire and mentor strong engineers across backend, frontend, data/AI, QA,
and DevOps
-
Set technical standards and create a culture of ownership and high
velocity
-
Ensure the team can support 3 implementations in parallel via repeatable
templates, tooling, and disciplined scope control
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
-
Deliver a repeatable product deployment that achieves meaningful go-live
in 60–90 days
-
Ship core capabilities:
-
document ingestion + catalog/search + audit trails
-
workflow orchestration + exception management
-
onboarding templates + reporting workflows
-
AI-assisted summaries and “what changed” views (source-linked,
permission-aware)
-
-
Reduce dependency on bespoke work via templates, configuration, and
standard connectors
-
Establish reliable engineering operations: on-call health, observability,
predictable releases
Requirements
Must-Have
-
10–15+ years of engineering experience, including 3–6+ years leading teams
-
Proven delivery of enterprise SaaS products (multi-tenant, secure, high
availability)
-
Strong backend engineering background (distributed systems, APIs,
async/event-driven patterns)
-
Demonstrated ability and willingness to be hands-on and code daily
-
Experience building integrations with external systems (APIs, SFTP,
file-based imports, webhooks)
Strong Plus
-
Fintech/wealth/asset management domain experience
-
Document intelligence: classification, extraction, search, OCR/NLP
-
Workflow engines / orchestration (queues, state machines, retries,
idempotency)
-
Security/compliance experience (SOC2/ISO, audit logging, RBAC,
encryption/KMS)
-
Snowflake/data warehouse patterns; search stack (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
Technical Skills (Representative)
-
Backend: Python/Java/Go/Node (flexible), microservices, REST/GraphQL
-
Data: ETL pipelines, queues/streams, document storage, search, Snowflake
-
Cloud/DevOps: AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability
(logs/metrics/traces)
-
AI enablement: model integration, evaluation/monitoring, human-in-loop
design
