Scope:
The System Administrator - L3 is a senior technical role responsible for
supporting and improving on-premises and Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
The position provides advanced troubleshooting across Windows Server,
Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, patching, Microsoft Exchange,
Veeam Backup, reporting, Microsoft Graph API and infrastructure
automation. The role acts as an escalation point for complex incidents and
contributes to infrastructure projects, operational reporting and process
improvement. Success requires strong ownership, structured analysis and
clear communication with technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
On-Premises Server Administration
-
Administer and support Windows Server infrastructure across physical and
virtual environments.

Provide L3 troubleshooting for operating systems, server performance,
services, storage, networking and application-related issues.
-
Complete server builds, upgrades, migrations, hardening, maintenance and
decommissioning activities.

Diagnose CPU, memory, disk, service and event-log issues, and support
virtualization and hybrid infrastructure environments.
Microsoft Azure and Cloud Infrastructure
-
Administer and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Machines and supporting
infrastructure services.

Resolve Azure VM connectivity, performance, availability, storage and
configuration issues.
-
Troubleshoot dependencies and connectivity between on-premises and Azure
environments.
-
Work with Azure networking, Network Security Groups, monitoring, storage
and related components, and support cloud migration and modernization
initiatives.
Azure and Windows Patching
-
Plan, execute, monitor and validate monthly security and cumulative
patching cycles using Azure Update Manager and enterprise Windows Server
patching processes.

Perform pre-patch health checks and post-patch server and application
validation.
-
Troubleshoot Windows Update failures, compliance gaps and deployment
errors.
- Maintain patch-compliance dashboards and management reports.
Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
-
Administer Active Directory and provide L3 support for replication, DNS,
Group Policy, Kerberos, authentication, domain-controller and sign-in
issues.

Manage users, groups, computers, organisational units, Group Policy
Objects and delegated permissions.

Support hybrid identity environments involving Active Directory and
Microsoft Entra ID.
- Resolve complex identity, authentication and access incidents.
Microsoft Graph API and Infrastructure Automation
-
Develop and maintain secure automation using Microsoft Graph API,
PowerShell, Azure Automation and related scripting technologies.

Automate user lifecycle, licence management, reporting, device and
inventory processes, and recurring administrative tasks.

Design API-based integrations and workflows across Microsoft 365 and
Azure services using appropriate identity, authentication and
authorisation methods.

Create reusable scripts, runbooks and operational tools with
maintainable logging and error handling.
Dashboard, Reporting and Monitoring
-
Design and maintain dashboards covering server health, Azure resources,
patch compliance, backup status, licences and service performance.
-
Create management and technical dashboards using Power BI or other
enterprise reporting platforms.
-
Automate data collection and dashboard refresh processes using Azure
Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Graph API, PowerShell and other
approved sources.

Develop actionable operational indicators and reporting for technical
teams and management.
Backup, Recovery and Business Continuity
-
Administer and troubleshoot Veeam Backup & Replication jobs, including
backup, replication and recovery activities.
- Perform virtual machine, file and application-level restores.
- Monitor backup health, capacity, retention and recovery points.

Support backup testing, disaster recovery and business-continuity
activities.
Microsoft Exchange
-
Administer and support Microsoft Exchange Server and/or Exchange Online.

Troubleshoot mail flow, mailbox, Outlook, authentication, connectivity,
permissions and transport issues.
- Support hybrid messaging environments where applicable.
L3 Incident, Problem and Change Management
-
Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents.
-
Apply structured troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and permanent
remediation across Windows Server, Azure, Active Directory, DNS,
Exchange, Veeam and hybrid infrastructure.

Contribute to major incident, problem and change-management processes.
-
Prepare clear root-cause analysis documentation for critical incidents
and recurring problems.
Documentation, Stakeholder and Vendor Management
-
Maintain SOPs, architecture notes, knowledge articles, automation
documentation and troubleshooting guides.
-
Provide clear technical updates to management, service desk and L2
teams, project teams and business stakeholders.
-
Coordinate with vendors and Microsoft support on complex technical
issues.

Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across
infrastructure operations.

Experience & Qualifications

8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure
administration and troubleshooting.
-
Strong hands-on experience supporting hybrid on-premises and Microsoft
Azure environments.
-
Advanced troubleshooting capability across Windows Server, Active
Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, Group Policy, Kerberos, Exchange and
Veeam.

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Graph API, PowerShell, automation
runbooks and API-based workflows.
-
Experience creating infrastructure dashboards, operational reports and
monitoring solutions.
-
Strong analytical, incident-management, documentation and communication
skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).

Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
(AZ-800/AZ-801).
- Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Entra ID-related certification.
- ITIL certification is mandatory.
