Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly accomplished Director – Software Architecture to provide enterprise-wide architecture leadership and drive technology modernization across the organization. This role serves as the Enterprise Architecture leader, accountable for defining architectural vision, standards, and governance while enabling scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on architecture leader with a strong foundation in building and operating complex enterprise applications, complemented by meaningful exposure to data platforms, analytics, AI enablement, and digital product ecosystems. This role leads a cross-functional team of architects and owns the Architecture Governance to ensure consistent, pragmatic, and business-aligned architectural decisions across the enterprise. Strong experience in the US Mortgage / BFSI domain is essential. JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Governance • Define, own, and continuously evolve the enterprise software architecture strategy, aligned with business priorities and long-term transformation goals. • Establish and enforce architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and guardrails across application, data, integration, cloud, and security domains. • Ensure architectural decisions support enterprise scalability, regulatory compliance, resilience, and cost efficiency. Architecture Governance Council Leadership • Own and operate the enterprise Architecture Governance Council across the organization. • Set governance operating models, review frameworks, decision criteria, and escalation paths. • Drive consistent execution and follow-through on architectural governance decisions, ensuring architectural outcomes are adopted by delivery and product teams. • Position governance as “guardrails, not gatekeeping”, enabling speed with discipline. Enterprise Application Architecture (Core Focus) • Lead architecture for large-scale enterprise applications, including origination, servicing, data-intensive, and customer-facing platforms. • Drive adoption of cloud-native, microservices-based, API-first, and event-driven architectures. • Define modernization strategies for legacy platforms, including decomposition, re-platforming, and technology rationalization. • Provide architectural oversight across solution design, ensuring consistency across pods, products, and domains. Data, Analytics & AI Enablement • Provide enterprise architectural direction for data platforms, data integration, analytics, and reporting ecosystems. • Partner with Data, BI, and AI leaders to ensure data architecture consistency, AI readiness, responsible AI adoption, and governance alignment. • Guide architectural integration of AI/ML and agentic automation platforms into enterprise workflows where they deliver measurable value. Digital & Product Architecture • Support digital product platforms, automation initiatives, and customer-facing capabilities. • Ensure strong alignment between digital experiences and core enterprise systems. • Enable product-centric, API-driven architectures that promote reuse and faster time-to-market. Technology Leadership & Delivery Enablement • Provide strategic guidance on technology selection, platform strategy, vendor evaluations, and investment prioritization. • Ensure architecture decisions accelerate delivery, improve quality, and reduce operational risk. • Promote Agile, DevSecOps, and engineering excellence practices across architecture and delivery teams. People & Stakeholder Leadership • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team of architects (application, data, integration, security, digital, AI). • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business, product, and engineering leaders. • Foster a collaborative, outcome-driven architecture culture across the organization. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s\Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • 16+ years of industry experience across software engineering, architecture, and enterprise technology leadership • Proven hands-on experience designing and building large-scale enterprise applications and distributed systems • Demonstrated experience functioning as an Enterprise Architect or senior architecture leader • Strong experience working within the US Mortgage / BFSI domain, including regulatory and operational considerations • Demonstrated success leading architecture governance bodies and influencing org-wide technology decisions • Strong expertise in modern enterprise technologies, including: o Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) o Enterprise application and integration architectures o Microservices, APIs, and event-driven patterns o Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) o DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform engineering o Data architecture fundamentals and analytics enablement • Strong experience in Agile and product-centric delivery models • Proven people leadership experience managing senior architects and technical leaders • Proven analytical skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis and visualization • Must possess ability to work independently and in a team environment • Must possess excellent investigative and problem-solving abilities.
