SAP Variant Configuration Consultant

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

o A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is an advantage.

• Analyse product configuration requirements and translate the optical product portfolio (frames, lenses, coatings, tints, and accessories) into well-structured configurable material (KMAT) models.

• Design and build characteristics, variant classes (class type 300), and configuration profiles in SAP LO-VC and S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).

• Author and maintain object dependencies — preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, constraints, and actions — to enforce valid combinations and pricing-relevant logic. Job Description

• Construct and maintain super BOMs and super routings with embedded dependencies to drive configuration-specific component and operation selection.

• Configure variant pricing and variant conditions to ensure accurate sales-order pricing across the full range of configuration options.

• Build and govern variant tables and variant functions to manage large value sets and complex rule logic efficiently.

• Validate configuration behaviour across SD, PP, and MM integration points in configure-to-order and make-to-order scenarios, and support defect resolution through go-live.

• Document configuration models and dependency logic, and enable functional consultants and key users through structured knowledge transfer.

o 8+ years of SAP experience overall, with 5+ years dedicated to SAP Variant Configuration (LO-VC) across full-cycle implementations.

o Demonstrated delivery of at least one end-to-end VC build for a complex configurable product portfolio, ideally in retail, consumer products, or discrete manufacturing.

o Exposure to S/4HANA AVC and to global or European client engagements is strongly preferred.

• Certifications

o SAP certification in S/4HANA Manufacturing / Production Planning or a related module is preferred.

o Formal training or credentials in SAP Variant Configuration / Advanced Variant Configuration are a plus.

• Technical Skills o Core VC: configurable materials (KMAT), characteristics (CT04), variant classes (class type 300), configuration profiles (CU41), configuration simulation (CU50). o Dependencies & rules: object dependencies (preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, constraints), variant tables (CU60), variant functions. o Modelling: super BOMs, super routings, variant pricing and variant conditions.

• Expert-level command of SAP Variant Configuration (LO-VC), including configurable materials, characteristics, classes, and configuration profiles.

• Strong proficiency in object dependency programming — preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, constraints, and actions.

• Proven ability to model super BOMs, super routings, and variant pricing for complex, high-variant product portfolios.

• Working knowledge of S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC), including migration of classic VC models to AVC.

• Solid understanding of integration between VC and the SD, PP, and MM modules in configure-toorder and make-to-order processes.

• Demonstrated ability to gather requirements and translate business product logic into maintainable, well-documented rule sets.
