Role overview
As a Lead Software Engineer at Huron, you will be involved in the full
lifecycle of application development —
creating, coding, debugging, optimizing, and maintaining both front-end and
back-end components, as well as
providing solutions to data integration challenges. You will draw on extensive
experience building enterprise
web applications across JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, SQL Server,
and AWS, while setting the
technical direction for your team, mentoring developers through code reviews,
and enforcing development
standards that uphold quality across onshore and offshore members.
Primary responsibilities
Technical leadership and architecture
Lead the design and development of full-stack enterprise software products,
owning
technical decisions across front-end, back-end, and data integration layers.
Drive architecture for microservices and web services, ensuring scalability,
performance,
observability, and maintainability across production systems.
Establish and enforce development standards, coding conventions, and peer
review
norms; conduct code reviews to elevate quality across the team.
Interact with key stakeholders from Product Management, Implementation, and
Support
teams to translate business requirements into sound technical solutions.
AI-assisted and agentic development
AI-assisted development: Leverage GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and
comparable
agentic coding assistants across design, code authoring, review, test
generation, and
documentation to increase quality and velocity.
AI agent development: Design, build, and maintain AI agents and multi-agent
workflows;
define agent instructions, skills, memory, and tool integrations for
production-grade
agentic systems.
Apply Model Context Protocol (MCP) or equivalent patterns to connect AI
models to
internal tools, APIs, and data sources; stay current with the agentic AI
landscape.
Delivery, quality, and collaboration
Apply software engineering best practices across the full development
lifecycle, including
unit testing, integration testing, and automated test coverage.
Troubleshoot deployment and resolve environmental issues in a timely manner
across
multiple concurrent projects.
Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge
sharing; foster
a culture of continuous improvement in a globally distributed Agile team.
Develop in-depth knowledge of Huron's business processes and product
capabilities to
provide well-grounded technical recommendations.
Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent
professional
experience.
8+ years of professional software development experience building
multi-tier, scalable,
enterprise-level products.
3+ years in a lead engineering role managing both onshore and offshore team
members.

control and branching strategies.
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and a strong focus on
automation and continuous delivery.
Demonstrated experience with performance engineering, scalability design,
and
observability practices (logging, metrics, distributed tracing) in production
systems.
Cloud and data
