Job Description – Signalling Expert (Railway S&T)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Signalling Expert
to lead and oversee railway signalling works for Indian Railways projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Railway Signalling
& Telecommunication (S&T), including Route Relay Interlocking (RRI),
Solid State Interlocking (SSI), and Panel Interlocking (PI) systems. The
candidate will be responsible for technical supervision, project execution,
quality assurance, and coordination with contractors, consultants, and
client representatives.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the execution of railway signalling and
telecommunication (S&T) works.

Review signalling designs, drawings, technical specifications, and
installation methodologies.

Monitor installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of RRI, SSI,
and PI systems.

Ensure compliance with Indian Railways standards, specifications, and
safety procedures.

Coordinate with contractors, consultants, client representatives, and
project stakeholders.
-
Conduct inspections, quality audits, and progress reviews at project
sites.
-
Provide technical guidance during troubleshooting and commissioning
activities.
-
Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and progress updates.
-
Support project planning, risk management, and timely project delivery.
Educational Qualifications
Essential
-
Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics
& Communication Engineering, or Electronics & Telecommunication
Engineering.
OR
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics &
Communication Engineering, or Electronics & Telecommunication
Engineering.
Preferred
-
CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent industry-recognized networking certification.
-
Degree/Diploma in Project Management or Construction Management.
-
Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
-
Institution of Railway Signal & Telecommunication Engineers (IRSTE)
qualification.
-
Certification/training from the Indian Railways Institute of Signal
Engineering & Telecommunications (IRISET), Secunderabad.
Experience
Total Professional Experience
-
Graduate Engineers: Minimum
17 years
of professional experience.
-
Diploma Engineers: Minimum
22 years
of professional experience.
Relevant Experience
-
Minimum
10 years
of experience as:
-
In-charge or one level below In-charge for Railway Signalling works
with Railway Signalling Contractors,
or
-
Expert (S&T) or equivalent/higher position with Project Management
Consultants (PMC).

Experience must include one or more of the following:
-
Route Relay Interlocking (RRI)

Solid State Interlocking (SSI)
-
Panel Interlocking (PI)
-
Experience may be acquired individually or in combination across the above
signalling systems.
Mandatory Requirements

Successful completion of one of the following Indian Railways training
programs:

Apprentice JE (Signal)

SE (Signal)

Probationer (IRSSE)
-
Equivalent training course at IRISET, Secunderabad

Conversion/Integration Course for Group 'B' Railway Officers at
IRISET, Secunderabad
