Backup DGM - Veeam (Managed Services)

Requirement- Enterprise Backup & Storage with strong experience across enterprise storage platforms and backup technologies. The candidate should have hands-on expertise in Veeam, Commvault, and major storage vendors such as NetApp, EMC/Dell, HPE, or IBM. Proficient in designing, operating, and supporting highly available, scalable backup and storage environments for multiple enterprise customers.

As an Backup & Storage Operations, you will own end-to-end operations, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise Backup, Recovery, Disaster Recovery, and Storage platforms. The role acts as the final escalation point, providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and operational excellence across on-prem, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.

He/She will work closely with customers, cloud engineering teams, and operations teams to manage platform capacity, resilience, and delivery of new capabilities while ensuring SLA, RPO, and RTO commitments.

Responsibilities

• Act as L3 / final escalation for complex backup, restore, storage performance, and DR incidents
• Lead Major Incident Management (MIM) and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with permanent corrective actions
• Demonstrate deep technical understanding of backup and storage technologies and apply them to solve enterprise business problems
• Own and support Disaster Recovery, Backup & Recovery, and Contingency Operations (Co-Op) including process and strategy definition
• Deploy, configure, maintain, and document enterprise SAN, NAS, Object Storage, and Backup platforms
• Design, plan, implement, and support storage technologies including NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, FC, NDMP, and FCoE
• Own Veeam and Commvault platforms including architecture, upgrades, optimization, and lifecycle management
• Implement immutable backups, ransomware protection, encryption, and secure recovery mechanisms
• Perform storage capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle management across multiple data centers
• Provision and manage LUNs, volumes, storage pools, replication, and HA configurations
• Monitor and administer storage systems ensuring high availability and resilience
• Respond to alerts, failures, and incidents in 24x7 operational environments
• Participate in design and deployment of storage and backup requirements for enterprise applications
• Drive standardization, automation, and operational best practices
• Effectively communicate current and future backup and storage requirements to stakeholders
• Mentor and guide L1/L2 teams, define SOPs, runbooks, and escalation procedures

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with enterprise storage platforms – NetApp / EMC (Dell) / HPE / IBM
• Strong understanding of NAS / SAN / Object Storage architectures
• Hands-on experience with File, Block, Object, and Backup storage
• Expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication and Commvault Complete Backup
• Experience with NetBackup / HPDP / Rubrik / Cohesity – Good to have
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP including SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapLock, SnapClone
• Experience with EMC Data Domain and enterprise storage arrays
• Experience with HPE Primera / 3PAR Storage
• Good understanding of storage virtualization technologies
• Experience with SAN fabric, zoning, and storage networking
• Strong understanding of DR concepts, RPO/RTO, cyber recovery, and immutability
• Strong understanding of public and private cloud platforms – AWS / Azure / GCP / VMware / Red Hat
• Exposure to cloud-native backup, object storage tiering, and hybrid architectures
