Job Description
Senior FW engineer/Lead – Audio amplifier and signal processing
The Consumer Audio Amplifier product line is hiring an Audio DSP firmware engineer to support its Smart Amplifier products. In this role you will be part of a team that develops and implements real-time audio processing solutions to deliver innovative audio and speech experience through audio amplifiers. Candidate will be responsible for porting Audio algorithm and audio framework on variety of DSPs and SoC platform. The role involves porting, optimizing, debugging testing of Matlab, embedded C source code with an emphasis on audio applications. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement mixed signal firmware in embedded C and assembly based on Digital Signal Processors
- Contribute to brainstorming discussions on mixed signal silicon architecture with cross functional teams
- Work with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration of DSP firmware with mixed signal hardware such as ADC, DAC, ClassD amplifiers.
- Firmware development for signal chain, audio products and subsystems
- Develop optimized code for audio post processing, speaker protection and audio enhancement and AEC/NC algorithms on DSP processors.
- Participate in firmware code reviews and create documentation for firmware projects including block diagrams, state diagrams, coding specifications and product descriptions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, attention to details and ability to work in a collaborative work environment
- Test and validate the firmware through unit tests, simulations and real hardware environments
- Plan firmware milestone for product execution, analyze technical risks, ramp new resources, provide debug support to other engineers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, ECE (preferable with specialization in signal processing)
- 8+ years’ experience in embedded audio platforms
- Proven experience in DSP firmware development including experience with DSP processors (Qualcomm Kalimba, TI C55x, Analog Devices SigmaDSP or similar)
- Optimizing code for programmable DSP's
- MATLAB, C and C++ language experience required
- Understanding of signal processing, DSP fundamentals, preferably in audio
- Understanding of digital filters is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in signal processing techniques such as digital filter design (IIR, FIIR), adaptive filtering, noise and echo cancellation is a great plus
- Experience with adaptive filters, sub-band processing, multi-rate DSP, and frequency domain processing is a great plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- C and C++ programming knowledge
- Assembly level embedded programming experience is a plus
- Co-design experience with digital hardware is a plus. Understanding of / modifications to DSP architectures
- Exposure to CNN/LSTM based Deep learning is a plus
- Familiarity with code version control practices
- System Profiling tools experience
- Strong debugging/trouble-shooting skills of embedded systems
- Strong HW/Board/FPGA debugging skill is a great plus.
