Job Title: Building Application Engineer
Job Summary:
The Building Application Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying,
enhancing, and daily
management of our Building Management Systems and related applications across
global sites.
This role involves working closely with product owners, product analysts,
project managers,
clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that systems are functional,
efficient, and meet all
project/product requirements. This role requires a highly skilled engineer
with strong technical
knowledge in building automation, excellent project management capabilities,
and the ability to
collaborate with global teams to optimize building performance and energy
efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Design and Implementation:
o Plan, design, and oversee the installation and commissioning of BMS hardware
and software globally.
o Ensure seamless integration of new systems with existing building
infrastructure
and enterprise platforms.
o Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and subject matter experts to ensure
compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
2. Project Management:
o Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans and timelines.
o Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure
project
milestones are met.
o Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines and
budget
constraints.
3. Technical Support and Maintenance:
o Provide expert technical support for installed/active Systems, including
prompt
troubleshooting and resolution of system issues to minimize downtime.
o Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and software updates to ensure
optimal system performance and reliability.
4. Client Interaction:
o Engage proactively with clients to understand their operational needs and
provide
tailored technical guidance on building automation solutions.
o Deliver training sessions and workshops to clients and facility teams,
enabling
effective system operation and maintenance.
o Address client inquiries and concerns with timely and effective solutions,
ensuring satisfaction and alignment with their functional requirements.
5. Compliance and Safety:
o Coordinate with regional facility managers, IT teams, and external partners
to
ensure consistent standards and best practices.
o Monitor compliance with local regulations, sustainability goals, and
corporate
policies.
o Conduct safety checks and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
o Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend
improvements.
6. Documentation & Continuous Improvement
o Maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, configurations, and
changes.
o Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and tools to
enhance building automation capabilities.
o Drive innovation through research on emerging trends and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Computer
Science, or a related field.
Experience:
o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in building automation, systems
engineering,
or a related field.
o Experience with HVAC, lighting, and Electrical systems preferred.
Skills:
o Proficiency in building automation software and tools (e.g., BACnet, JCI,
Schneider Electric, Honeywell).
o Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
simultaneously.
o Understanding of Windows Client/Server operating systems.
o Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Certifications:
o Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, LEED certification)
are a
plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on construction sites and perform hands-on work.
Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based with regular visits to project sites.
May require occasional travel to locations or other offices.
