NOTE- KINDLY ADD KEY SKILLS HIGHLIGHTED IN CV
Senior Staff Engineer, Analog Design
EXP-Senior Staff: 10+ years with M.Tech, or 12+ years with B.Tech
Key Requirement: Strong experience in PMIC (Power Management IC) design/development.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced analog design engineer with 10+ years of experience and a master's degree, offering an in-depth understanding of analog concepts and hands-on expertise in the from-scratch design of complex analog IPs and sub-blocks. The role involves IP and subsystem integration, full ownership of smaller ICs such as point-of-load devices and single converters, and ownership of major IPs within large PMICs. The candidate will join Renesas's $2.6B Power Business Unit and work on PMICs, linear regulators and switching DC-DC converters that power next-generation phones and handheld devices. This is an early-stage growth opportunity to learn, build and influence the charter of Renesas's broad power-product portfolio. Essential Functions Analog IP Design & Ownership • Must be proficient in designing and owning complex IPs including positive and negative charge pumps, source-sink LDOs, ultra-low-power oscillators including relaxation types, temperature sensors, current-sense circuits, SAR ADCs and housekeeping blocks. • Own protection functions covering thermal, under-voltage, over-voltage and over-current conditions. • Demonstrate strong design expertise in bandgap references, V2I circuits, analog buffers, op-amps, comparators and high-speed level shifters. Understanding of switch-capacitor circuits is advantageous. • Build or support block-level specification breakdown from chip-level requirements and independently own complete switching converters such as buck, boost and buck-boost converters, as well as LDOs. • Perform block-level error budgeting based on block requirements.
Control Loops & Converter Architecture
• Implement and compensate control loops and analog feedback loops, with a clear understanding of trade-offs among compensation strategies. • Understand the relative differences among constant-frequency, constant on/off-time and current-mode control architectures. • Select and implement the best control approach to meet converter performance specifications and broader system requirements. • Bring innovative ideas to improve designs and achieve challenging specifications.
Layout, Simulation & Design Methodology
• Possess in-depth knowledge of analog layout and work closely with the layout lead from floor planning through chip-top completion and verification. • Make appropriate layout and design trade-offs based on desired performance. • Be conversant with standard design, extraction and simulation flows and tools, including speed, convergence and accuracy trade-offs. • Optimize pre- and post-layout simulation setups, with or without parasitics, use simulator options effectively and navigate tool-related challenges. • Establish design flows, methodologies, checklists and reviews to ensure quality and take designs through silicon success.
Silicon Delivery & Technical Leadership
• Demonstrate experience across the end-to-end IC development flow, silicon debug and taking ICs to production. • Lead a small group of engineers through all stages of IC development while mitigating challenges, ensuring high-quality silicon and meeting business schedules. • Mentor freshers and junior engineers to strengthen technical capability and overall effectiveness. • Possess an in-depth understanding of ESD, latch-up and other IC-level issues and define appropriate protection for the I/O ring.
Qualifications-
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering; a master's degree is preferred for this role. • 10+ years of experience in analog circuit design, simulation and verification. • Solid understanding and design experience in complex analog designs with full ownership. • Experience in chip design, verification, silicon validation, debug, qualification support and taking ICs to production. • Natural team player and mentor who can foster a highly creative and productive working environment
