Capitalization Work in progress (CWIP):
- Understanding of CWIP & Inventory capitalization processes such as procurement, Issuance, capitalization, asset reporting
- Understanding of Inventory Hygiene such as Inventory cycle, Aged inventory Impact, CWIP-Provision controls

CWIP (Capital Work in Progress) refers to network infrastructure and equipment that are still being deployed, installed, or tested and are not yet commissioned for use. Until the work is completed, the expenses remain under CWIP on the balance sheet.

The CWIP Lead (Capitalization Work in progress ) is responsible for overseeing financial performance, governance, and compliance for assigned projects. This role ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost control, reporting, and financial risk management throughout the project lifecycle. The position works closely with project managers, operations, commercial teams, and senior leadership to drive project profitability and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Develop, monitor, and update project budgets in alignment with contractual scope and internal guidelines.
- Validate cost estimates, revenue projections, and cash-flow plans.
- Lead periodic re-forecasting cycles based on project progress and risks.
2. Project Cost Control
- Track project costs versus budget and highlight variances proactively.
- Set up cost-control frameworks, WBS, and reporting structures.
- Ensure accurate allocation of direct and indirect project costs.
3. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly/quarterly project financial reports including P&L, cash flow, and margin analysis.
- Provide management with actionable insights on performance drivers and variances.
- Support audits and compliance reviews with accurate financial documentation.
4. Revenue & Billing Management
- Review contracts to understand billing terms, milestones, and financial deliverables.
- Ensure timely invoicing and revenue recognition as per applicable accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Monitor receivables, cash collection, and working capital position of the project.
5. Project Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
- Support risk identification, mitigation planning, and internal reporting frameworks.
- Participate in internal/external audits and ensure corrective actions are completed.
6. Business Partnering
- Work closely with Project Managers to support decision‑making with financial insights.
- Participate in project reviews, steering committees, and cross‑functional discussions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to operations and leadership teams on financial matters.
7. Contract & Change Management
- Review financial impact of change orders, claims, and contract amendments.
- Ensure commercial terms are reflected correctly in financial models and forecasts.
- Track approved variations and incorporate in project budgets.
8. Tools & Systems
- Maintain financial data in ERP (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics or equivalent).
- Ensure accuracy of project master data, cost codes, and system controls.
