Job Description-Linux Admin
Experience- Linux Administrator with 10+ years of experience in deployment and
administration of RHEL/SUSE/Ubuntu platforms. Overall Experience should be
more than 10
years.
Location- Noida/Pune
Education: BE/B.Tech
(RHEL Certification preferred)

strategy. As an Linux Admin you will be supporting Airtel’s private cloud
customers across
India. You are expected to have good experience with Linux platforms along
with
networking. We expect you to be agile and learn new skills constantly. You
will are expected
to be participating in all aspects of the Deployment life-cycle which includes
estimating,
technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and
support of Linux
platform for our clients.
Having a strong background in Linux administration, virtualization,
networking, and security
will be required in successfully fulfilling this role.
Additionally, understanding application development lifecycles as well
practical experience
in working with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools as part
of the
container lifecycle will be useful.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot L3 level issues escalated by L1/L2 team
Upgrade of Linux OS from 7.x to 8.x /9.x
Handle Ubuntu 20.x & 22.x
Troubleshooting of upgrade issues and roll back if required
Manage patching of servers using tools
Support upgrade planning and develop upgrade SPO’s for L1 team
Act as escalation point for L1 team and help them to fix issues
Infrastructure automation via Ansible to make deployment quick and easy.
Develop new tools or utilities via Linux tools like SED, AWK, etc, which
will help in
administration of the cluster
Work on setting up VMs and other services
Documentation of the architecture and related components.
Setup disaster recovery between two sites.
Assist in change management of platform for new versions of Hotfixes,
SysAdmin
tasks, etc.
Cluster capacity management and provisioning through automation of
underlying
hosts
Works with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of
issues,
review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing.
Authors/edits system documentation/playbook(s)
May serve as a mentor on procedural matters to less experienced internal and
third-
party team members.
Skills/Expertise
Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science or related fields.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Technical Skills
Experience with handling L3 level support large environments containing more
than 1000
servers
Sound knowledge of RHEL 7/8/9 & Oracle Linux.
Advanced knowledge of RHEL clustering configuration.
knowledge of Nutanix for deployment of Linux VMs.
Sound knowledge of Security aspects from Linux OS perspective to
deliver/implement
security policies as per organization guidelines.
Able to handle most of basic to advanced calls in User, group management,
system start-up,
service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system
management, root
backups.
Experience in Server Management, Backup, with the help of the tool provided.
Any proactive
monitoring tools i.e., open view, Tivoli, Big-brother, Data Protector Etc.
will be added
Advantage.
Should have used any backup management software i.e., Net backup, TSM,
VERITAS,
Omnibackup etc.Good working knowledge with iptables, IPv6 and LVM
Good command over Linux networking commands e.g. ip, ifconfig, brctl, etc.
Working knowledge of automation tools like Ansible (minimum 1 year)
Good knowledge of tools like Docker, Jenkins, etc (minimum 1 year)
Good knowledge of editors like vi, sed, awk
Good knowledge of python and shell scripting (minimum 1 year)
Nice to have knowledge of Kubernetes.
DevOps experience with large enterprise is a big plus
Sound knowledge of building and deploying DNS/SMTP/LDAP Servers.
Good handle on repository management and Linux system patching using tools
like Satellite
or SMART
Sound knowledge of Security aspects from Linux OS perspective to
deliver/implement
security policies as per organization guidelines.
Able to handle most of basic to advanced calls in User, group management,
system start-up,
service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system
management, root
backups.
Have networking experience and understanding of network Protocols, DNS, VPN
and Load
Balancing.
Strong understanding of public and private Cloud technologies like
AWS/GCP/Azure/VMware/Red Hat/Nutanix/Oracle PCA will be a plus
