About The Business
Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the
Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.
Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is
building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor
Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as
power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and
high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand
in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless
communications and artificial intelligence.

Role in a nutshell
Lead the endtoend material procurement and supply chain for a
greenfield semiconductor wafer fab, ensuring uninterrupted
availability, quality, compliance, and cost effectiveness of direct and
indirect materials required for process qualification, rampup, and
steadystate production.
The role is accountable for building a worldclass, resilient, and
compliant materials supply ecosystem from zero—covering
chemicals, gases, consumables, wafers, reticles, spare parts, and
cleanroom materials—while managing risks related to single
sourcing, geopolitics, logistics, purity, and contamination control
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
o Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring
quality, cost competitiveness, and sustainability.
o Negotiate long-term contracts and secure critical material
supply
o Define and execute global supply chain for fabwide materials
sourcing strategy aligned to:
Process of Record (POR),
Ramp curve and capacity plans
Yield, variability, and contamination control
requirements
o Align supply chain operations with organizational goals,
technology roadmaps, and market demands.
o Establish single vs multi sourcing philosophy for each
material category
o Develop local vs global sourcing roadmap with riskbased
segmentation
Supplier selection and qualification
o Lead supplier identification, qualification, and onboarding
for all fab materials
o Coordinate with Process Engineering, Quality, and EHS for:
Material specifications
Change control (PCN/MCN)
Contamination and defect risk assessment
o Establish Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) and Approved
Material Lists (AML)
Contracting & Commercial Management
o Secure critical material supply.
o Negotiate:
Longterm supply agreements
Volume commitments and price protection
Consignment and VendorManaged Inventory (VMI)
Yieldlinked and performancebased pricing
o Structure contracts covering:
Quality guarantees
Supply continuity
Change notification
Confidentiality and IP protection
StartUp & RampUp Readiness
o Ensure Day1 readiness for:
Line qualification materials
Process characterization lots
Engineering and monitor wafers
o Build rampsynchronized material plans aligned to:
Tool installation schedules

o Develop material buffers and safety stocks for ramp volatility
Operations, Inventory & Logistics management:
o Oversee planning, sourcing, inventory management, and
distribution across multiple geographies.
o Establish material planning models integrated with:
MES / ERP / MRP
Consumption and yield data
o Implement risk management frameworks to mitigate supply
disruptions.
o Optimize:
Inventory turns
Shelflife management
Cold storage and hazardous storage
o Implement cleanroomcompatible material handling
Risk Management & Supply Resilience
o Identify and mitigate risks related to:
Singlesource materials
Long lead times
Geopolitical and logistics disruptions
o Develop:
Alternate suppliers
Substitution strategies (qualified and preapproved)
Emergency supply and expediting playbooks
EHS & Regulatory Compliance
o Ensure compliance with:
Hazardous chemical and gas regulations
Storage, transport, and disposal norms
Import/export and customs requirements
o Coordinate approvals with:

o Build safe and compliant chemical and gas supply chains
Innovation & Transformation:
o Drive digitalization, predictive analytics, and automation in
supply chain processes.
o Champion sustainability initiatives and compliance with
global regulations.
o Implement and govern:
ERP / MRP integration
Supplier portals
Material traceability and lot genealogy
o Ensure endtoend visibility from supplier lot → fab lot →
wafer lot
Leadership & Collaboration:
o Lead cross-functional teams across procurement, logistics,
and manufacturing.
o Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and finance to ensure
seamless integration of supply chain strategies.
Building Developing a world class material supply chain team
o Build a high-performance construction supply chain
management team with an ability execute greenfield and
brownfield fab projects.
o Develop a hiring, training, coaching/mentoring and retaining
strategy to build organization capacity and capability
o Develop a continuously learning and developing culture to build
talent pipeline for near, mid- and long-term requirements
o Ensure succession and career planning for each team members.
o Ensure learning and development opportunities for teams.
o Encourage diversity and inclusion as per corporate values and
guidelines.
o Build and lead a highcalibre materials supply chain team
including:
Category managers
Material planners
Supplier quality engineers
Logistics and compliance specialists
o Define capability development in:
Semiconductor materials science basics
Risk management
Supplier negotiations
Yielddriven supply decisions
Essential Experience
20+ years of progressive experience in supply chain
management, with at least 10 years in leadership roles.
Proven track record in semiconductor or high-tech
manufacturing industries.
Expertise in global procurement, supplier negotiations, and
risk management.
Experience in implementing advanced supply chain
technologies (ERP, predictive analytics, AI-driven planning).
Demonstrated success in managing multi-entity, cross-
border supply chain operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Supply
Chain, or related field.
Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
Strong knowledge of semiconductor materials, global trade
regulations, and compliance standards.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder
management skills.
Ability to drive transformation initiatives and deliver
measurable business impact.
