About the role

What You'll Do (A Day in the Life)

As a Platform Architect at Koch Technology, you will:

Define and evolve the architectural vision for enterprise-grade observability and platform infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term scalability.
Design reference architectures for containerized workloads and Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS EKS, establishing patterns and standards that engineering teams adopt across the organization.
Architect CI/CD and GitOps strategies using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and related tooling—setting the blueprint for secure, repeatable, and scalable deployment pipelines.
Drive Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) standards and governance, including module design patterns, state management strategies, and collaboration frameworks that scale across teams.
Lead architectural reviews and technical due diligence, evaluating trade-offs, identifying systemic risks, and guiding teams toward resilient, well-informed design decisions.
Establish incident response frameworks and reliability practices, conducting architectural root-cause analysis and translating findings into systemic improvements and platform-wide resilience patterns.
Serve as a technical leader and force multiplier, mentoring engineers, influencing engineering culture, and fostering continuous learning across the organization.

Who You Are (Required Qualifications)

Proven experience architecting and designing production-level Kubernetes platforms at enterprise scale—not just deploying, but defining the "how" and "why" behind infrastructure decisions.
Deep expertise in CI/CD and GitOps architecture, with the ability to design end-to-end deployment strategies using tools like GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, etc.
Strong Infrastructure as Code leadership (Terraform preferred): designing reusable module libraries, defining state management and governance patterns, and enabling self-service infrastructure at scale.
Comprehensive understanding of observability architecture: metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, and dashboarding—with the ability to design cohesive observability strategies across distributed systems.
Familiarity with core observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, or equivalent) and the ability to evaluate, select, and integrate them into a unified platform.
Strong knowledge of AWS services commonly used with EKS (IAM, VPC, ELB/NLB, EBS, CloudWatch) and the ability to design secure, cost-effective cloud architectures.
Exceptional communicator and influencer, able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, drive alignment across teams, and mentor engineers at all levels.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred)

Experience designing and governing reusable Terraform module libraries adopted across multiple teams or business units.
Background in multi-cluster Kubernetes architecture, including experience with Rancher or similar fleet management tooling at enterprise scale.
Expertise in cluster autoscaling strategies, multi-cluster topologies, and cost optimization on EKS.
Cross-domain architectural experience (networking, security, finance, or product) that enables you to influence broader organizational and technical decisions.
Experience architecting and scaling large Kafka deployments, including considerations for throughput, fault tolerance, and multi-tenant design.
Hands-on OpenTelemetry experience, with the ability to design instrumentation strategies for generating and collecting traces and metrics across distributed services.
Experience designing and operating Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and Mimir at scale, including capacity planning, high availability, and multi-tenant architecture.
