Superintendent - Metallurgy & Heat Treatment

1. Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Metallurgical Laboratory and Heat Treatment operations, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory quality standards while maintaining optimal process control, metallurgical testing accuracy, and continuous improvement in heat treatment processes.

2. Key Responsibilities

Quality & Metallurgical Testing

• Lead and manage metallurgical testing laboratory operations.
• Perform and supervise metallurgical tests including:
  • Microstructure analysis
  • Hardness testing
  • Case depth analysis
  • Grain size evaluation
• Ensure accuracy and documentation of all metallurgical test reports.
• Maintain laboratory calibration and testing standards.

Heat Treatment Process Control

• Monitor and control heat treatment processes including:
  • Carburizing
  • Carbonitriding
  • Annealing
• Ensure adherence to process parameters and metallurgical specifications.
• Implement process improvements to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Quality Management System

• Ensure compliance with customer audits and internal quality standards.
• Maintain documentation for quality audits such as:
  • Process records
  • Inspection reports
  • Audit compliance documents
• Ensure readiness for customer audits.

Customer Complaint Handling

• Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to heat treatment and metallurgical defects.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective & preventive actions.

Process Improvement

• Improve operational efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources.
• Monitor and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Shop Floor Quality Management

• Maintain 5S and quality discipline in laboratory and shop floor areas.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure process stability.
