Job Description: Senior QA Engineer (Manual + Basic Automation)
Location: Remote /1 day per week in the office – Ahmedabad
Working Timezone – 2pm to 11pm. EST Preferable.
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Level: 6+ years
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Senior QA Engineer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in Manual Testing and a foundational understanding of automation practices. The ideal candidate is meticulous, analytical, and passionate about driving product quality through robust testing standards and industry best practices. You will play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest levels of functionality, reliability, usability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Strategy
Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize test scenarios with a strong understanding of risk-based testing.
Contribute to QA process improvements, test strategy discussions, and quality governance initiatives.
Manual Testing
Execute detailed manual test cycles including functional , regression, smoke, compatibility, usability, and exploratory testing.
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to validate requirements and ensure test coverage across all features.
Raise, track, and validate defects using industry-standard tools while ensuring clear steps-to-reproduce and impact assessment.
Automation Support
Collaborate with automation engineers to align manual test cases with automation feasibility.
Maintain and enhance basic automation scripts (if required), contributing to hybrid testing efforts.
Understand CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests integrate into development workflows.
Quality Advocacy
Promote best practices such as shift-left testing, early involvement in requirement refinement, and continuous quality mindset.
Participate in sprint ceremonies and provide QA input throughout the development lifecycle.
Analyze trends, identify root causes of recurring issues, and propose preventive measures.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of proven experience as a QA/Test Engineer in a fast-paced product or service environment.
Deep expertise in manual testing methods , including test design techniques, defect classification, and test execution best practices.
Working knowledge of automation testing concepts and familiarity with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
Strong command of QA methodologies, SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum practices, and modern quality standards.
Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps), test management platforms (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr), and collaboration tools.
Ability to understand APIs, use tools like Postman, and validate backend functionality.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to writing and maintaining simple automated test scripts.
Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab), and containerized environments.
Basic understanding of SQL for data validation.
Experience working in enterprise-grade or customer-facing applications.
