JOB TITLE: EMBEDDED SOFTWARE / FIRMWARE ENGINEER
LOCATION: BENGALURU
EXPERIENCE: 3–7 YEARS
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL-TIME
ABOUT WIPPI
Wippi is a technology-driven hardware startup focused on building innovative, affordable proprietary hardware products. The company is developing hardware devices where the software and firmware layer plays a critical role in making the product reliable, scalable, and continuously improvable.
At Wippi, hardware development does not end once the device is built. The firmware continues to evolve as the product is enhanced, optimized, and improved based on product requirements and real-world usage.
This makes the firmware engineering function a critical part of the product development team, with strong opportunities for engineers who enjoy hands-on development, hardware-software integration, debugging, and solving practical engineering challenges.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hands-on Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer who will be responsible for developing, maintaining, debugging, and improving firmware for Wippi's proprietary hardware device.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with ESP32 and microcontroller-based firmware development and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced hardware startup environment.
This role is particularly suited for engineers who enjoy working close to the hardware and taking ownership of firmware development rather than working within highly segmented enterprise engineering environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for proprietary hardware products.
• Develop firmware using ESP32 microcontrollers.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with electronic components and devices.
• Develop and optimize embedded software for performance, reliability, and resource efficiency.
• Debug firmware and resolve hardware-software integration issues.
• Participate in firmware architecture, development, testing, and continuous improvement.
• Work with microcontrollers, peripherals, communication interfaces, sensors, and other embedded components.
• Analyze technical issues and implement practical solutions in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across hardware, product, and engineering.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of firmware as the product evolves.
• Work across different microcontroller platforms and adapt firmware stacks/libraries where required.
• Follow good coding, testing, debugging, and documentation practices.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
• 3–4+ years of relevant Embedded Software / Firmware development experience.
• Minimum 1+ year of hands-on ESP32 development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with microcontroller-based firmware development.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Experience in embedded systems development, debugging, and testing.
• Good understanding of hardware-software integration.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve firmware-re
