What you will do
The Manager Accounting & Controls leads the various funcitons (e.g., Cash Management, Genral
Accounting which includes S&W, Pro Fees, recons etc., Fixed Asset and Lease accounting, Inter
company accounting) with accountability for compliance, controls, reconciliations, and governance. The
role manages a team, drives stakeholder alignment across business units regions, and delivers process
transition and continuous improvement using Quality Decision Making (QDM) and Six Sigma/Lean
methodologies.
Please note this is not a taxation-related role but is a functional role managing a process within record-to-
report (RTR)
• Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & People Management
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Record to Report (RTR) team comprising accountants and clerical associates.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and drive capability development through coaching and structured training programs.
- Establish clear RACI matrices, ensure effective workload balancing, and develop succession plans.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
2. Stakeholder Management & Governance
- Partner with senior Finance Leadership, Ship-to-Collect, Clearance, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on accounting policies, transaction treatment, and risk appetite.
- Represent the RTR function in Steering Committee (SteerCo) and PMO governance forums.
- Present operational dashboards, issue logs, KPIs, and remediation plans to senior leadership.
- Manage relationships with external consultants and auditors while ensuring proactive communication on complex or ambiguous accounting matters.
3. Compliance, Accounting & Controls
- Ensure timely and accurate accounting, reporting, and reconciliation activities across RTR functions (e.g., GL, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Intercompany Reconciliations, General Accounting, etc.).
- Oversee General Ledger integrity, including:
- Journal Entries
- Accruals
- Provisions
- True-ups
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Ensure accurate re-billing and accounting treatment for external customer transactions, where applicable.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment, including segregation of duties, approval workflows, supporting documentation, and audit readiness.
- Support internal and external audits while ensuring timely closure of audit observations and control gaps.
4. Process Transition (QDM / Six Sigma) & Continuous Improvement
- Lead end-to-end transition of RTR processes into new operating models (Shared Services, Global Business Services, GCC, or in-sourcing initiatives).
- Apply Quality Decision Making (QDM) principles and Lean Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, SIPOC, Value Stream Mapping) to improve process efficiency and eliminate defects.
- Design future-state operating models, including:
- Process Maps
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- SLAs & OLAs
- Control Matrices
- Identify automation opportunities through templates, validations, workflow enhancements, and RPA solutions.
- Drive change management initiatives, including Knowledge Transfer (KT), training, hypercare support, and stabilization activities with measurable outcomes.
5. Technology & Data Management
- Collaborate with IT teams on ERP system design, configuration, and process enhancements.
- Improve data quality through standardized templates, automated validations, and reconciliation processes.
- Enable self-service reporting and analytics using Power BI and Advanced Excel.
- Develop exception monitoring mechanisms and KPI dashboards for proactive risk identification and decision-making.

- 5+ years of experience managing finance teams.
- Proven expertise in coaching, mentoring, performance management, and talent development.

- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leadership.
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders, escalations, and governance forums.

- Hands-on experience applying Quality Decision Making (QDM).

Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional qualification preferred (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- 8–12 years of Finance/Accounting experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading finance teams.
- Proven experience in finance process transitions and transformation initiatives.
Preferred
- Experience working within Shared Services, Global Business Services (GBS), or Global Capability Centers (GCC).
- Exposure to large-scale ERP implementations or finance transformation programs.
- Experience managing internal and external audits.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Familiarity with Quality Decision Making (QDM) frameworks.
