About the Role

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer at the SDE 2 or SDE 3 level to join a small, high-ownership engineering team building and scaling the products that power Epik’s e-commerce and operations ecosystem. You will work across web and mobile surfaces — Next.js, TypeScript, React Native on the frontend; Node.js and Fastify on the backend — while integrating deeply with Shopify-based inventory and commerce systems.

At SDE 3 level, you will additionally be expected to drive architectural decisions, define engineering standards, mentor SDE 2 engineers, and own critical systems end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

Product Engineering

• Build and own features across the customer app (Next.js / React Native) and internal ops tooling
• Design and develop RESTful and event-driven APIs using Node.js and Fastify
• Integrate with Shopify APIs to manage inventory, orders, fulfilment, and commerce workflows
• Ensure performant, accessible, and responsive UIs across web and mobile

Backend & Systems

• Architect scalable backend services that support real-time operations — expert scheduling, live order tracking, and inventory sync
• Own database design and query optimisation (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Build and maintain internal dashboards and ops tools used by the Epik expert and ops teams
• Write clean, testable, well-documented code with strong code review practices

Shopify & Commerce Integration

• Deep integration with Shopify’s Admin API, Storefront API, and webhooks for inventory and order management
• Build custom Shopify apps or extensions where native functionality falls short
• Ensure real-time inventory accuracy across fulfilment and the customer experience layer

SDE 3 — Additional Expectations

• Drive system design and architectural decisions for critical product areas
• Set engineering standards: code quality, testing practices, CI/CD, and observability
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical hiring
• Collaborate directly with product and ops to define technical feasibility and delivery timelines

What You Bring (Must-Have)

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and Fastify for backend API development
• Strong proficiency in Next.js and TypeScript for frontend development
• Experience with React Native for mobile app development
• Hands-on experience integrating with Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks)
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and asynchronous programming patterns
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and writing efficient queries
• Comfortable with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment workflows
• SDE 2: 2–4 years of relevant full stack experience
• SDE 3: 4–7 years with demonstrated ownership of complex systems and some mentorship experience

Good to Have

• Experience building custom Shopify apps or working with the Shopify Partner ecosystem
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, queues (Kafka / SQS / BullMQ), or microservices
• Experience with Redis for caching or real-time features
• Familiarity with observability tooling: logging, tracing, alerting
• Prior experience at a high-growth consumer internet or e-commerce startup
