Head – Kidswear Design

1. Job Objective -
To lead the Kidswear business by overseeing design development, product innovation,
merchandising, sampling, costing, production coordination, quality control, and timely
execution of export orders. The candidate should have strong expertise in kidswear
product development, excellent sketching and handwriting skills, an understanding of
international fashion trends, and the ability to translate buyer requirements into
commercially viable products.

2. Key Responsibilities -
A. Kidswear Design & Product Development
 Lead the design and development of kidswear collections for international
buyers.
 Develop innovative designs, silhouettes, colour combinations, prints,
embroideries, and fabric concepts.
 Prepare clear and detailed hand sketches, garment illustrations, and design
presentations.
 Translate buyer briefs, reference images, and tech packs into commercially
viable garment designs.
 Develop seasonal collections aligned with international kidswear trends and
buyer requirements.
 Work closely with design, pattern-making, sampling, and technical teams to
ensure accurate product development.
B. Sampling & Buyer Coordination
 Coordinate with international buyers on design briefs, product specifications,
sampling requirements, and approvals.
 Manage buyer feedback and incorporate revisions within agreed timelines.
 Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, buying houses, and internal
stakeholders.
C. Team Leadership & Business Management
 Lead and mentor the design, product development, and merchandising teams.
 Establish clear timelines, accountability, and performance standards across the
department.

 Identify opportunities to improve product quality, development speed,
productivity, and profitability.

3. Desired Candidate Profile
 Minimum 13 years of experience in the garment industry, preferably with a
garment export house.
 Strong experience in kidswear design, product development, merchandising, or a
combination of these functions.
