Tonefuse powers the advertising and brand partnership side of the business — connecting brands with music fans at scale through contextually relevant, data-driven campaigns.

We're building a world-class engineering team in India to work alongside our US counterparts on the same codebase, the same systems, and the same mission. This is not a satellite office — it's an extension of our core engineering team.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to own the technical outcomes of our India engineering domain. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will continue to contribute technically while also coordinating, unblocking, and coaching the engineers around you.

You own reliability, delivery quality, and engineering standards for your domain — not by doing everything yourself, but by ensuring the right outcomes happen. You are fully integrated with our US engineering teams, operating on the same systems, codebase, and engineering standards.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Service Reliability & Operational Health

Own the operational health of your services — healthy on-call, actionable alerts, clear runbooks
Define and maintain SLIs and SLOs; review trends regularly and act on them
Lead incident response and drive postmortem follow-through
Proactively manage reliability risks: capacity, performance, scaling, resilience

Execution Clarity & Delivery

Ensure work is well-shaped: clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical approach
Break initiatives into executable milestones; surface risks and dependencies early
Keep Jira healthy: backlog quality, correct roadmap linkages, visible status
Drive resolution of blockers and cross-team dependency alignment

Technical Direction & Architecture

Own the domain's technical direction, ensuring alignment with company strategy
Run lightweight design reviews for meaningful changes — record decisions and rationale
Coordinate cross-team integration points; keep service ownership and boundaries clear
Ensure service contracts are explicit, documented, and coherent with the broader architecture

Engineering Quality & Standards

Set and enforce consistent code review standards, testing expectations, and release readiness
Ensure observability is in place before/with releases — dashboards, logs, traces
Drive adoption of company tooling and standards across your team
Ensure services meet baseline security and compliance expectations

AI & Agentic Development — Team Champion

🤖 AI-Assisted Development: You are the champion for your team.

As Tech Lead, you are responsible for advancing your team's capabilities in AI-assisted and agentic development. This means identifying where agentic workflows reduce toil, accelerate delivery, or improve quality — and raising the overall AI literacy of your team.

Act as champion for agentic coding within your team
Help engineers effectively leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality
Identify opportunities where agentic workflows reduce toil or accelerate delivery
Ensure responsible, maintainable use of AI-generated code
Raise the overall AI capability of your team over time

Knowledge Sharing & Team Resilience

Ensure critical systems have at least 2 people who can operate and support them
Promote documentation, pairing, demos, and cross-training
Improve onboarding paths for new engineers joining the domain

Coaching & Team Development

Practice mutual coaching — support the development of engineers on your team
Be open to receiving feedback and coaching yourself
Understand what your teammates are working on and help them grow
Share development goals and challenges openly

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years in a tech lead or senior engineering role
Strong full-stack engineering background with proven ability to contribute hands-on in a modern codebase
Experience owning service reliability: SLIs, SLOs, on-call, and incident response
Track record of delivering complex, multi-faceted initiatives predictably
Experience leading technical design discussions and making/documenting architectural decisions
Strong communicator — able to align stakeholders, surface risks early, and write clearly
Genuine enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and agentic coding practices
Comfortable working in a globally distributed team across time zones

NICE TO HAVE

Experience building or operating high-traffic consumer-facing platforms
Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization
Experience mentoring engineers and running effective code review cultures
Prior experience with agentic development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.)
