COBOL Developer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled COBOL Developer with over 10 years of experience to join our dynamic team in India. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing our legacy systems, particularly focusing on Micro Focus COBOL development, while collaborating with global teams to drive our projects towards success.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain COBOL applications primarily using Micro Focus COBOL.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the IM First codebase and implement necessary modifications.
Conduct thorough analysis and troubleshooting of existing codebases to ensure optimal performance.
Engage in Agile development practices, utilizing tools such as JIRA to track progress and manage tasks.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers while contributing to best practices.
Work closely with teams in the US Eastern Time zone and Manila to facilitate effective communication and project alignment.
Maintain documentation for developed applications and processes to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in COBOL software development.
Strong expertise in Micro Focus COBOL, with a deep understanding of legacy systems.
Experience with Pro*C and Oracle databases is a significant plus.
Proficiency in working within Linux/UNIX environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to independently understand complex codebases.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a proactive approach to collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with version control systems, especially GitLab or similar tools.
Experience working in Agile development environments, contributing to continuous improvement.
Prior exposure to international teams and cross-time zone collaboration.
Open-mindedness and a willingness to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
