Big Data Engineer – Krakow

Role Overview

We are looking for a Big Data Engineer with strong experience in Scala/Java, Spark, Azure and Databricks to build and support scalable data solutions.

The role involves end-to-end ownership across data engineering, application development, testing, deployment and production support, with exposure to GenAI/LLM solutions .

Key Skills

Strong experience with Scala, Java and Apache Spark
Hands-on Azure and Azure Databricks
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and containerized applications
Strong knowledge of REST APIs and data integration
Experience with Git, GitLab, CI/CD, Maven/Gradle and Shell scripting
Experience with PostgreSQL
Knowledge of Azure AD, Managed Identities, Service Principals and HashiCorp Vault
Experience with automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber and/or API testing tools
Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and application monitoring
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code such as ARM/Terraform
Experience with end-to-end data applications and production support

GenAI / AI

Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI APIs, prompt engineering or AI-powered applications is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable big data applications and pipelines
Work with business/product stakeholders to understand requirements
Design technical architecture and solutions
Develop, test and deploy applications across Azure/Databricks environments
Implement APIs, integrations and automated testing
Support CI/CD and production deployments
Troubleshoot and optimize data processing and application performance
Contribute to GenAI/LLM-based solutions and applications
Take ownership of projects with minimal supervision

Requirements

5–8+ years of relevant experience
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Experience working in Agile teams
Willingness to work 3 days/week onsite in Krakow
Valid authorization to work in Poland
