Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and creative 3D Jewellery CAD Designer to translate design concepts into precise 3D CAD models and high-end photorealistic renders. Using Matrix / MatrixGold, you will craft production-ready files for manufacturing and visually striking renders for client presentations and marketing.
Key Responsibilities
3D CAD Modeling: Build accurate, high-detail 3D CAD models of fine jewellery pieces (rings, pendants, bangles, earrings) using Matrix/MatrixGold based on design sketches, reference images, or technical specs.
Photorealistic Rendering: Generate high-resolution 3D renders, 360-degree turntables, and visual assets for client approvals, digital catalogs, and marketing campaigns.
Production Feasibility: Calculate exact metal weights, stone sizes, prong settings, wall thicknesses, and casting shrinkage allowances to ensure models are optimized for 3D printing and bench assembly.
Team & Client Collaboration: Work directly with bench jewellers, master setters, and product managers to address technical feedback and adjust designs for structural integrity.
File & Library Management: Prepare STL/3DM files for rapid prototyping (CAM) and maintain an organized archive of standard components, findings, and completed CAD designs.
Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expert-level proficiency in Matrix or MatrixGold (Rhino-based environment). Advanced skill in rendering engines such as V-Ray, KeyShot, or MatrixRender.
Jewellery Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong grasp of gemology, stone-setting techniques (pave, bezel, channel, claw), metal tolerances, and the lost-wax casting process.
Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating previous 3D jewellery CAD designs alongside photorealistic rendering capabilities.
Precision & Detail: Exceptional attention to proportion, stone layout symmetry, and aesthetic balance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in organic 3D modeling using ZBrush.
Hands-on experience setting up and operating 3D wax/resin printers (e.g., Formlabs, EnvisionTEC).
